WayCo Softball League
First Year Success: Second Year Expansion
Last summer, 80 area players signed up for the league’s four teams. Our league was featured in the Sports Section of the Wayland Town Crier. At season’s end, we had both a home run derby and an All-Star Game. This final event was well attended by family and friends of the players and included a cookout.
Players range from upperclassmen at Wayland High School to recent college graduates. The league’s popularity demonstrated a high demand for recreational activities for this age group. Our goals this summer include building on the accomplishments we achieved last summer.The excitement to join has helped grow our number of participants to over 170 and ten teams. Ideally, we are looking to expand to six to eight teams.
Due to increased interest and numbers of ball players we have decided to move all games to the Cochiuate Ball Field. This will help to accommodate night time play and make our league more visible to residents and families in the community who we hope will enjoy this league with the rest of us.
